Mission Statement

The Writing & Reading Center (WRC) was formed in response to the growing recognition that all students in every program need a strong foundation of fundamental writing and reading skills. At CCCC, the WRC exists to help students pursue their educational goals and develop into intellectually mature persons, competent readers and writers, and lifelong learners.

Students who visit the center will have access to a myriad of free services ranging from one-on-one and group coaching, to content specific workshops. Through these services students will receive constructive feedback regarding writing assignments, various resources to improve writing and reading skills, and a better understanding of why writing and reading really matter.

The Red Clay Review

Are you a creative writer or artist? Share your work with the greater CCCC community through The Red Clay Review!

The Red Clay Review is the literary and visual arts magazine of CCCC. Every year, applicants submit creative works in the form of poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction, and two-dimensional cover art for admission into the magazine.

Visit the website below to learn more about submission guidelines and deadlines!

Fall 2015 Updates!

The Writing & Reading Center is proud to announce the following updates for the Fall 2015 semester:

1. Referrals from instructors are no longer required! Students may visit the WRC, at their leisure, without having to get permission from an instructor first. We hope that this change to our policy will allow for more students to get faster and easier access to the resources and staff within the WRC.

2. The WRC on the Lee campus is extending hours! Starting this Fall, the Lee WRC will be open until 8pm Monday through Thursday. This change was made to help offer the same great services to students who need to be on campus later in the day!

3. The Online Writing Lab (OWL) has updated the coaching request form! Now, students can submit a request for feedback on written work and upload their document for review in the same place. This adjustment will help the WRC staff respond faster to student requests.

4. The WRC website will be undergoing a massive update during the Fall semester! Be sure to check back for more updates!
