What is Readers' Advisory?

cute dog wearing glasses on top of booksRead a good book recently and can't decide what to read next? Want to try a new genre but aren't sure where to start? Look no further!

Readers' Advisory is a service providing readers suggestions on what to read.  Readers' Advisory happens in libraries, bookstores, and even in simple conversations between friends! Readers' Advisory encompasses a wide variety of questions, considerations, and evaluations.  Title recommendations are tailored to each person based on their specific preferences.  Some questions to consider when determining what to read next:

  • What's the last book you read that you really liked?  What did you like about it? Consider themes, characters, setting, etc.
  • What's the last book you read that you didn't like? Did anything make you say "this book is not for me?" If so, what was it?
  • What do you typically like reading about? Are there particular settings or themes that you repeatedly find yourself drawn to?
  • What are you in the mood for? Identifying if you're seeking an easy beach read or a dense science-fiction intergalactic omnibus can guide your search.

This guide will provide tools to assist in the search for your next great read!
