COVID-19 Library Services FAQs

This guide will answer the most common questions about which library services are available during COVID-19 with library closures and social distancing. These measures apply to the Lee and Harnett Libraries.

Library Services and Resources

Is the CCCC Library open?

The Harnett and Lee campus Libraries are currently closed. However, Library staff are working to keep online services and resources available. Access to additional services and resources will be gradually phased in as social distancing restrictions are eased. 

The Chatham campus library is open with limited availability M-F 10-5. Capacity is limited to 50 people, with a time limit of 30 minutes per person while browsing, or 1 hour at a computer station. Study Rooms are not available. Get more details at the CCL website.

How can I get a Student ID / Library card?

You may request a Student ID / Library card online using this request form. You will need your student ID number and a current photo of yourself to upload into the form. Photos should be a front-facing headshot with no hats, masks, or sunglasses. The ID will then be printed and mailed to you. 

When will the Library reopen?

We do not know yet when we will reopen. When we do, we will share this information on our website and our Facebook page. 

Can I check out materials while the library is closed? 

You may request library materials through our new Curbside Pickup service. Simply complete the form with the information on the item(s) you need, and the library staff will contact you to schedule an appointment for pickup. Books checked out during the Fall 2020 semester will be due at the end of the semester on December 15th

Can I return materials while the library is closed? 

Yes! You may return the materials in the outside book drop at any time. 

Can I access other library resources while the library is closed? 

Yes! Our online resources are still available 24/7, as well as additional online resources during COVID-19. 

How can I get help from a librarian? 

Librarians are available online to help you via our chat service, virtual consultations/appointments, or by email

Does the library offer Computer Access? 

Wifi is available in the campus parking lots for Internet access. Students nmay check out a laptop for the duration of the semester by filling out the laptop request form. An appointment will be scheduled for curbside pickup of the laptop. 

Library Accounts

Will I be fined for late library materials while the library is closed?

No. There will be no late fees on any reserve items that are checked out while the library is closed. Regular collection materials do not accrue late fees. 

Can I renew items I currently have checked out? 

Yes! If you would like to renew materials, you may contact us by email or chat

Can I return items I currently have checked out? 

Yes! You can return materials in the outside book drop. The Lee Library book drop is next to the curb just before the Wilkinson Building. The Harnett Library book drop is outside the main entrance to the Etheridge Building. 

Who can I contact with questions about my library account? 

You may contact us by email or chat with any questions about your library account. 

Can I place holds in the library catalog? 

Yes, you can place a hold in the library catalog.

Can I request items through Interlibrary Loan? 

Yes, we are able to fulfill Interlibrary loan requests. We can also process requests for articles that can be obtained digitally and emailed to our borrowers. Requests for digital articles may be made online. Be sure to check our online databases for the article first before submitting a request. 

Who can I contact with questions about Interlibrary Loans I already have out? 

Please email us with any questions regarding interlibrary loans that you have had out since COVID-19 began.
