Hello and welcome! I'm Allison Sills, the Instructional Services Librarian here at CCCC. My goal is to make research, learning, and using the library as easy and enjoyable as possible - both for students and for faculty. Whether you are working on a new assignment, need a research refresher, or are just looking for the best way to guide students to credible resources, I'm here to help!
My route to being a librarian was far from a straight one! I grew up in a small Arkansas town, but after getting my bachelor's degree in Education, I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do in life. I went to Las Vegas for the summer and lucked into a job at Caesar's Palace. I stayed in Las Vegas for many years, getting to know a lot about the West Coast.
The 2008 Financial Crisis hit Vegas hard, so I left and decided to explore another passion of mine: Travelling. I've visited 12 foreign countries and spent two years living in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, where I worked in Zayed University's Library.

Wadi Rum, Jordan. Abu Simbel, Egypt. Athens, Greece.
After working in the library at Zayed, I decided to go back to school (and the States!) and get my Master's in Library Science at UNC. I traded in my airline miles for two wheels and the open Southeast roads!

After graduating from UNC, I worked at the Lee County Public Library for 5 years. During my time there I greatly increased the graphic novel section and started the very popular, Pop!-con, which I ran for 5 years.
Now I'm putting my undergraduate degree in Education and my MLS to work at CCCC. I am here to help faculty, staff and students navigate the sometimes elusive art of information searching! Feel free to contact me anytime for help on your projects!
